Lost Souls Cat Rescue

Adoption Policy

The application process starts with a verbal interview (phone, email or text) where you tell us about you, all other members in your household (human and pet), including their ages, and the home environment you will provide. Please also include your background with current and past pets.

If we feel you are a fit, we will pre-approve you for adoption. At that time you can fill out an application and schedule a time for the meet and greet.

We offer 2 adoption options, see below:

Pre-Adoption Option

This process is offered to those who wish to make only one trip. This is preferred in many instances as we are located 40 minutes north of St. Cloud. Under this option you would adopt the kitten before meeting and pay the adoption fee to hold the kitten until she’s ready to go home.

When the kitten is ready to go home, and you meet her, if the meet and greet does not go well, for either party (not the right fit, no bond, animal uncomfortable, etc), we will void the contract and refund the adoption fee or we can switch the adoption to another kitten that is a fit. We strongly believe the animal needs to go to a home where they will be wanted and loved and it must be the right fit. This cannot be determined until the Adopter has met the animal, therefore final adoptions are not done until the meet and greet. This option is the best option for those who wish to place the kitten on hold and make only ONE trip.

Adoption

Under this option, once you are pre-approved and have filled out the application, you are welcome to schedule a time to come and meet the cats and kittens available for adoption.

This may require two trips as a lot of kittens are adopted when they are too young to go home. As we don’t hold kittens for potential adopters under this option, there is the risk that the kitten or cat you wish to adopt will be adopted prior to your visit.

As the screening process would be complete at this point, if the meet and greet does go well, you would be able to take the kitten home with you, if old enough and vetted, or you can pre-adopt a kitten that is not yet old enough and revert back to the pre-adoption option.

The adoption fee includes the spay or neuter, age appropriate shots, dewormer (I always suggest a final when taken home), flea/tick treatment, and feline leuk test.

If, at the time of vetting, there are some issues related to health or kitty comes back positive for feline leukemia, that would be grounds to void the contract and refund the adoption fee.
